Terms and Conditions for Installment Payments
Addendum to the Terms and Conditions: Payment in Installments
Version 1.0, May 1, 2026. This addendum applies to our General Terms and Conditions, version 2026.4 or later. If any provision in this addendum conflicts with the main General Terms and Conditions, this addendum shall prevail with respect to all matters relating to payment in installments.
1. What is this about?
For some products, you can pay in installments. This means you don’t pay the entire amount at once, but in 2, 3, 6, or 12 monthly installments. In this addendum, you can read how this works and what terms and conditions apply.
Legally, paying in installments is referred to as a hire purchase agreement (Section 7A:1576 of the Dutch Civil Code). For terms longer than 3 months, the rules governing consumer credit also apply (Section 7:57 of the Dutch Civil Code and the Financial Supervision Act). We comply with these rules.
2. How do I place an order?
On the product page, select the number of installments you want. At checkout, you’ll see a summary of your total payment. Before clicking the order button, check the box to confirm that you agree to the terms and conditions and the direct debit. Your order will be finalized only after you do this.
Immediately after you place your order, we’ll send you a welcome email. It will include your personalized installment payment agreement, these terms and conditions, our general terms and conditions, and the cancellation form. All documents are in PDF format so you can save them.
3. How much do you pay, and how is that calculated?
Your installment payment agreement always includes the following items, listed separately:
- Cash price: the price of the product when paid in full.
- Premium: the additional amount you pay because you are repaying in installments. If there is no premium, this field will show zero.
- Total price: cash price plus premium.
- Number of installments.
- Installment amount: what you pay each month.
- First and last payment due dates.
- For 6- and 12-month terms: the annual percentage rate (APR), calculated according to the statutory formula.
We use SEPA Direct Debit. You give your consent for this during checkout and in your installment payment agreement.
4. Which option applies to you?
There are two options. Which one applies to you depends on the number of installments you have chosen:
- Pay in installments (1, 2, or 3 installments). You purchase the product and pay for it in installments. Once you’ve made your final payment, the product is automatically yours.
- Rent-to-own (6 or 12 payments). You rent the product for the duration of the term. The product remains Poopy during the rental period. After the final payment, you can purchase it for a buyout fee of EUR 1.00 or return it.
5. Who owns the product?
For purchases made in installments (1, 2, or 3 installments): The product remains our property during the term of the agreement. It becomes yours only after you have paid the final installment.
For lease-to-own plans (6 or 12 payments): The product remains our property for the entire term. It becomes yours only after you’ve paid the final installment of EUR 1.00. If you choose to return it, the product remains our property.
As long as it belongs to us, you may not sell it, rent it out, or use it as collateral for anyone else. However, you are responsible for any damage caused by misuse.
6. Can you cancel your order?
At Poopy , we Poopy a generous return window. For installment payments, there is a 50-day trial period starting from the date you receive the product. Within these 50 days, you can return your order free of charge, provided the Poopy has been Poopy cleaned. If it is returned uncleaned, we will charge a Dirty Return Fee of EUR 75. Sealed consumables can only be returned if the seal is still intact. This trial period can be used once per household.
In addition, you have a legal right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the product. This is the minimum legal period. Our 50-day trial period is well beyond that. To cancel, you can use the sample form in the welcome email or send an email to poopy.
If you cancel or return the product, we will stop the direct debit, refund any installments already collected within 14 days of receiving your notice, and ask that you return the product within 14 days.
7. Can you make early payments?
Yes. At any time, with no penalty or additional fees. Just send us an email and we’ll provide you with a breakdown of the amount.
8. What if you don't pay?
If we are unable to collect a payment, you will first receive a friendly reminder. If that does not resolve the issue, we will send you a formal 14-day notice after 14 days, informing you that we will charge collection fees if payment is still not received after that.
If that also fails to yield any results, we may demand payment of the entire remaining purchase price in a single lump sum. This is provided for in Article 7:65 of the Dutch Civil Code. We may therefore terminate the agreement and reclaim the product.
For the rental option (6 or 12 installments): If you Poopy return the Poopy within 14 days of cancellation, we will charge you the replacement value of the Poopy a EUR 75 administrative fee.
Before it comes to that, we always try to get in touch with you first. If you're having trouble making a payment, please send an email as soon as possible to poopy. We can usually work it out together.
9. How does it end?
For installment purchases (1, 2, or 3 installments): Once you’ve paid your final installment, the agreement is automatically completed. The product is then yours. We’ll send you a completion email to confirm.
For leases with a buyout option (6 or 12 installments): your lease term ends after your final installment, and you have a choice. Option 1: Purchase the item for EUR 1.00. Option 2: Return it within 14 days. If you do not make a choice within 30 days, we will automatically select Option 1 and charge EUR 1.00. We will send you a confirmation email with these options.
10. What about your personal information?
To fulfill this agreement, we process your data, such as your IBAN and payment history. You can read about how we do this in our Privacy Statement.
11. Are these terms and conditions subject to change?
This applies to new agreements. It does not apply to your current agreement; for that, the terms and conditions in effect at the time the agreement was entered into apply. We will notify you in advance of any material changes via email and on our website.
12. Complaints and Disputes
If you have a complaint, please email us within two months. We always try to resolve the issue together first. If that doesn’t work, you can take the matter to a Dutch court. This agreement is governed by Dutch law.
