1. Functionality & Operation

1.1 How does the Poopy Nano 2 self-cleaning cat litter box work? The Poopy Nano 2 is a fully automated self-cleaning litter box that eliminates the need to scoop litter. The box uses weight sensors to detect when your cat enters and leaves the box. After a waiting period you set, a cleaning cycle starts automatically. During this cycle, the clumping cat litter is gently rotated and sifted, separating the clean litter from the clumps and waste, which are deposited in a sealed waste container. Thanks to this automated operation, the litter box always stays clean, without you having to scoop it manually several times a day. This not only improves ease of use, but also ensures a hygienic environment for both cat and owner.

1.2 How does the Poopy Nano 2 know when to clean? The litter box is equipped with advanced weight sensors that detect the presence of a cat. As soon as your cat enters the box, this is registered, and when the cat is finished and steps out of the box, the cleaning timer starts. We recommend setting this to 5 minutes. The Poopy then waits 5 minutes before cleaning begins. This is optimal because clumps in the litter need time to form properly. This prevents loose urine or semi-soft feces from being immediately spread throughout the box, making the cleaning process more effective. Your cat may use the litter box several times in quick succession. We also have a setting for this that ensures the box will wait, for example, 30 minutes between cleaning cycles. This is useful because it prevents the Poopy from turning on unnecessarily often. When your cat uses the litter box several times in quick succession, the litter is collected and sieved at once. This saves energy, reduces wear and tear, and extends the life of the box. However, it is not mandatory. You can also set it to 10 or 15 minutes if you still want the Poopy to perform more cleanings.

1.3 How long does the cleaning process take? The average cleaning cycle lasts 2 to 3 minutes, depending on the settings. During the cleaning process, all clumps are carefully removed and placed in the waste bin. After the cycle, the litter box is immediately ready for use again.

1.4 What if my cat comes back while I'm cleaning the litter box? The Poopy Nano 2 is designed with safety as a priority. If your cat re-enters the litter box during the cleaning cycle, the cycle is immediately interrupted. The box stops, and cleaning will only resume once the cat has left the box again. This eliminates any risk of your cat getting stuck or being startled by the sudden movement of the box. This makes the Poopy Nano 2 completely safe for both young and older cats.

1.5 How often should I replace the waste bag? The frequency with which you need to empty the litter box depends on the number of cats and how often they use the box. 1 cat → Once every 4-6 days 2 cats → Once every 3-5 days 3 cats → Once every 2-3 days 4 cats → Once every 1-2 days This is a general guideline from Poopy. Every cat is different, so we recommend keeping a close eye on how quickly the litter box fills up. This way, you'll naturally discover the best time for you to replace the bag. The collection bin is designed to contain odors and bacteria. Removing the waste bag is easy and hygienic, as the clumps are in a separate container that you can easily remove and empty.

1.6 Can I use regular cat litter, or is special litter required? The Poopy Nano 2 works best with Poopy Grit (80% tofu and 20% cassava). This filling has been extensively tested and guarantees optimal performance. After each cleaning cycle, the leveling is perfect and unpleasant odors are effectively removed thanks to the activated carbon in the tofu of Poopy Grit. In addition, the Poopy can also be used with coarse, clumping litter such as bentonite. This absorbs urine immediately and forms firm clumps that can be easily processed by the cleaning system. Keep in mind, however, that bentonite alone does not guarantee perfect Poopy performance. Mixing tofu with bentonite best mimics the properties of Poopy Grit. Fillers such as silica gel, wood pellets, or non-clumping fillers are not recommended, as they can disrupt the mechanism or cause urine to accumulate in the tray, which can lead to odors.

1.7 How much noise does the litter box make during cleaning? The Poopy Nano 2 is designed to operate very quietly, with a noise level of approximately 55 dB (comparable to a quiet conversation at normal speaking distance). This means that neither you nor your cat will be disturbed by the cleaning process, even at night.

1.8 Can I start the cleaning cycle manually? Yes! In addition to automatic operation, the Poopy Nano 2 also has a manual cleaning option. Pressing the button on the control panel immediately starts a cleaning cycle. This is handy if you want to give the box an extra clean after intensive use, for example.

1.9 Does the Poopy Nano 2 also work when I'm on vacation?

Yes, as long as the waste container doesn't fill up. Many owners leave the unit running while they are on vacation so that the cat has a clean and odor-free environment. If you are away for more than a week, it is advisable to ask a house sitter to empty the waste container.

1.10 What if my cat uses the Poopy Nano 2 multiple times in a row? There's a special function for that

"Pause between cycles". The litter box then doesn't clean immediately after each detection, but waits until a set amount of time has passed. This ensures cleaning only starts after your cat(s) have finished several short visits. You can set the length of this pause yourself. This prevents unnecessary frequent operation and ensures more sustainable and energy-efficient use.

2.1 Are there any recurring costs, such as special refills or anything like that? While the Poopy Nano 2 offers a fully automated solution, there are some recurring costs, just like with any litter box. The Poopy Nano 2 works best with Poopy Grit, but also with coarse clumping litter such as bentonite. Unlike a traditional litter box, where urine and feces remain for longer periods and odors can spread throughout the room, the Poopy Nano 2 removes waste immediately after use. For larger breeds, such as Maine Coons or Norwegian Forest Cats, whether they fit comfortably in the litter box can vary from cat to cat. Although the Poopy Nano 2 is spacious, some extremely large cats may prefer an open box with even more room to move around. In practice, however, most large cats adapt to the Poopy Nano 2 without any problems, especially because it is always clean and fresh. The opening of the Poopy Nano 2 is designed so that cats can easily step in and out. The height is also easily manageable for older cats and cats with joint problems.

5.3 Is the Poopy Nano 2 safe for kittens or senior cats? Yes, the Poopy Nano 2 is completely safe for both kittens and senior cats. The design takes into account the needs of different ages, so that both young and older cats can use the litter box comfortably. For kittens younger than 6 months, it's recommended to temporarily disable the automatic cleaning function until they are accustomed to the litter box. This prevents them from being startled by the movement, although the sensors always prevent cleaning while a cat is inside. Once a kitten is older and more confident, the automatic function can be re-enabled. Kittens are at risk of consuming litter. Therefore, the use of clumping cat litter is discouraged when you have a kitten. Officially, a kitten may leave the nest at 12 weeks (sometimes you see 7 weeks mentioned, but almost all veterinarians and breeders recommend 12–13 weeks). Around that age, your kitten is large and strong enough, has learned the most important social skills, and is accustomed to solid food and the litter box. From that point on, it is also suitable to use the Poopy litter box, which only works with clumping litter. The reason why it is not recommended to use clumping litter for young kittens (younger than 12 weeks) is because they may still be curious and lick or even eat the litter. This can then form clumps in their stomach. This is virtually no longer a problem for kittens aged 12 weeks or older. In addition, the Poopy ensures that the clumps are automatically scooped away, further minimizing the chance that your kitten will come into contact with them or eat them. It's important to emphasize that while the Poopy can take a lot of work off your hands, we can of course never be held liable for individual cat behavior. Every cat is unique, and some kittens are simply more curious than others. The Poopy Nano 2 is ideal for older cats because it's always clean. Older cats can become more discerning when it comes to hygiene, and a traditional litter box that isn't cleaned immediately can lead them to relieve themselves elsewhere in the house. In addition, the entry height is low enough for cats with arthritis or joint problems, so they can step in and out of the litter box without difficulty.

5.4 What if my cat is afraid of the noise or movement? Some cats, especially shy ones, may be wary of a moving litter box at first. This is normal, as cats are sensitive to new sounds and moving objects in their environment. If you notice that your cat is hesitant, you can get him used to it in a calm and gradual way. 1. All you need to do is unpack the unit, place it in the desired location, plug it into an electrical outlet, and fill it with clumping cat litter. The unit is delivered ready to use, so no assembly is required. All settings are pre-configured, including the automatic cleaning timer and safety sensors. All you need to do is press the power button, and the Poopy Nano 2 will do the rest. However, we do recommend adjusting the settings to your own needs. Replacing the collection bag is also simple and hygienic; you open the flap on the top of the litter box, remove the waste bag, and insert a new one. The ease of installation is one of the reasons why so many cat owners are enthusiastic about the Poopy Nano 2; you just set it down and it does its job – no fuss.

6.2 Can I place the Poopy Nano 2 anywhere in the house? The Poopy Nano 2 can basically be placed anywhere there is a nearby power outlet and where the space is dry and well-ventilated. If you simply want the litter box to do its job without having to monitor anything, the Poopy Nano 2 works perfectly without an app or Wi-Fi. All essential functions, such as automatic cleaning and sensor detection, are pre-set in the device itself. Plug it in, fill it with litter, and the box does the rest. Prefer to monitor, adjust settings, or receive notifications via the app? Simply connect the Poopy Nano 2 to Wi-Fi and activate the app. This way, you always have insight into its use and can start a cleaning remotely. Whether you love technology or prefer to keep things simple, the Poopy Nano 2 adapts to your preferences. You decide how smart you want to use it.

6.6 Can I temporarily disable the automatic cleaning? Yes, that's possible. The Poopy Nano 2 has an option to disable the automatic cleaning function or to activate it manually. This is especially useful if your cat is still getting used to the litter box or if you want temporary control over when the box cleans itself. The manual mode is easy to activate via a button on the control panel. When you're ready to switch back to automatic cleaning, you can easily turn it back on. This flexibility is ideal for cats that are a little more cautious or easily intimidated by new devices. You set the pace.

6.7 Can I easily move the container to another location? Yes, the Poopy Nano 2 is light and compact enough to move, but sturdy enough to stay in place during use. The controls are designed so you can fully operate the litter box without an app or complicated menu – everything you need is on the front. The two buttons are the cleaning button and the Wi-Fi button. The cleaning button starts a cleaning cycle manually. Use the Wi-Fi button to connect the litter box to your Wi-Fi network and link it to the app for updates or additional features. Above these buttons are two bright LED lights that indicate the status of the litter box. White light above the cleaning button. The litter box is in standby mode and ready for use. A red light above the cleaning button means that pressure is being exerted on the Poopy (when the cat is in the box) or that the box is malfunctioning, for example if the cleaning process has been interrupted. A blue light above the Wi-Fi button means that the Poopy has successfully connected to Wi-Fi. This combination of buttons and light signals makes it very easy to check the status of the bin at a glance. No screens, no menus, no fuss – just clear signals that immediately tell you whether everything is working correctly or if something needs attention. The system is deliberately designed to offer maximum ease of use and minimal confusion. Even if you've never read a manual, you can see in seconds whether the oven is ready, connected to Wi-Fi, or needs some attention.

6.9 Does it matter how many cats use it? The Poopy Nano 2 can be used by an unlimited number of cats. There is no maximum – the device is designed to automatically clean itself after each use, regardless of how many cats use it. If you have multiple cats, you'll need to empty the waste container a little more often than with just one cat. But otherwise, you don't need to adjust anything. The sensors don't distinguish between cats; they simply detect whether the box has been used and then start the cleaning process. For households with multiple cats, the Poopy Nano 2 is therefore an ideal choice. It keeps itself clean, no matter how busy it gets.

6.10 What happens if I unplug it? When you unplug the Poopy Nano 2, the system will completely shut down. The bin will stop cleaning and all functions will be paused. As soon as you plug it back in, the Poopy Nano 2 automatically restores its previous settings and is ready to use again. You don't need to reset it or start it manually. 6.11 Does the Poopy Nano 2 work with any Wi-Fi network? The Poopy Nano 2 is designed to work with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, which is the most common type in households. The litter box is not compatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If you have a dual-band router (with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), make sure you select the correct network – this is usually the Wi-Fi network without "5G" in the name. The Poopy Nano 2 also works perfectly without Wi-Fi. All basic functions, such as automatic cleaning, manual cleaning, and status notifications via the lights, continue to function normally. Wi-Fi is optional and is only used for additional functionalities such as receiving firmware updates or connecting to the Poopy app (if available). What doesn't work is connecting via a mobile hotspot or your phone's 5G network. The Poopy Nano 2 requires a stable and constant connection to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network at home. A temporary hotspot is not suitable for this, as it does not offer a reliable connection and is often automatically disconnected after a short time. If you have Wi-Fi at home, connecting is very easy via the Wi-Fi button on the box. Don't have Wi-Fi? No problem – the box will continue to do its job, just without the smart features.

6.12 Can I control the Poopy remotely with the app? Yes, that's possible! As long as the Poopy Nano 2 is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network at home, you can control it from anywhere in the world using the app. You don't need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network yourself. Whether you're at work, away for the weekend, or even on vacation, you can always monitor and adjust the settings. Please note! Only during the initial setup does your phone need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Poopy. After that, everything works completely remotely.

6.13 Can the Poopy be connected to two phones? Yes, that's possible. The Poopy Nano 2 can be used on multiple phones simultaneously, but this only works if you log in to both devices with the same Tuya account. The Poopy connects to only one account and cannot be controlled by two separate accounts at the same time. Practical example Do you want both you and your partner to be able to operate the Poopy via the app? Then you both log in with the same login details. This way, you both have full access to all the functions and notifications of the Poopy.

7.2 How does the included drinking fountain work and why is it important? The luxurious drinking fountain included with the Poopy Nano 2 is designed to naturally encourage cats to drink more water. Running water is more appealing to cats than still water in a bowl, and it helps keep their kidneys healthy – especially important for older cats or cats that eat dry food. The fountain is quiet, energy-efficient, and easy to assemble. You just need to fill it with water and plug it in. Thanks to the built-in filter system, the water stays clean longer, contributing to your cat's overall health.

7.3 How often should I replace the filter in the drinking fountain? To maintain optimal water quality, we recommend replacing the filter of the drinking fountain every 3 to 4 weeks. For intensive use or with multiple cats, it's advisable to do this more frequently. A clean filter ensures that the water stays clear, free of hair, dirt, or food residue, and prevents bacteria from accumulating. Regularly replacing the filter is therefore important not only for the taste of the water, but also for your cat's health. Filters are available as separate sets via our webshop. We recommend always having a set in stock, so you never run out.

7.4 How do I best use the litter box mat? The included litter mat is easily placed in front of the opening of the Poopy Nano 2. The mat is made of a soft yet durable material that effectively catches litter when your cat steps out of the box. The structure ensures that granules fall between the layers, so you can easily throw them back into the container or throw them away later. This keeps your floor clean and you have to vacuum less often. The bottom is equipped with a non-slip layer, so the mat stays in place. To clean, simply shake out the mat or rinse it under the tap – quick and easy.

1. Poopy Nano 2

This is the name of the device you are controlling via the app. Here you can see the model of the Poopy that is connected. You can change the name yourself by clicking on "edit". If you have two Poopy's, it's useful to choose your own names, for example: "Poopy Nano 2 - Living Room" or "Poopy Nano 2 - Bedroom".

2. Status: Stand-by

The current status of the Poopy Nano 2. In standby mode, the litter box is not actively cleaning, emptying or leveling and is ready for use. This means that the box is ready for the next time your cat uses it.

3. Weight of your cat (3.0 kg)

The registered weight of your cat during its last visit to the Poopy Nano 2. This helps to chart the weight changes of your cat. If you have two cats, you can see by the weight which cat has visited the Poopy Nano 2.

4. Number of visits (3 times)

The number of times your cat has visited the litter box since the last reset or within a specific time period.

5. Car

Poopy Nano 2 Automatic Mode. When enabled, the litter box will automatically start cleaning after each use of your cat. When disabled, the litter box will NOT clean automatically. This is useful if you have a kitten that weighs less than 1 kg, for example. By disabling this mode, the Poopy will essentially function as a regular litter box.

6. Cleaning

This button starts a cleaning cycle manually. Useful if you want to clean the litter box an extra time, independent of the automatic cycle.

7. Empty

This button starts a cycle to completely empty the litter box, with all the litter being discharged into the Poopy Bag. This is useful when you want to replace the litter or thoroughly clean the box.

8. Leveling

This button starts the leveling cycle. This ensures that the cat litter is evenly distributed in the litter box. Useful for making sure the grit layer is even everywhere.

9. Average visiting time

The average time your cat spends in the Poopy Nano 2 during each visit. This can provide insight into your cat's behavior.

10. Number of visits

The total number of times your cat has visited the litter box over a specific period of time, such as daily or monthly.

11. Day

Poopy Nano 2 statistics display for the day. You can view your cat's daily usage statistics here.

12. Month

Poopy Nano 2 monthly statistics display. You can view your cat's monthly usage statistics here.

13. Home page

This is the app's home screen, where you can monitor the overall status of the Poopy Nano 2 and your cat's behavior at a glance. You can also control the Poopy (remotely) from this screen.

14. Settings page

The settings menu where you can adjust the most important settings of the Poopy Nano 2.

15. Advanced settings page

The advanced settings menu allows you to manage additional features and specific configurations of the Poopy Nano 2. You can also reset the Poopy via this menu.

16. Notification settings page

In the notification settings, you can choose which notifications you want to receive about the status of the Poopy Nano 2.

18. Logbook

The logbook keeps track of all Poopy Nano 2 activities, such as cleaning cycles, visits from your cat and any notifications or alerts. This gives you an overview of the litter box's usage and performance over time.

19. Settings

This is the initial settings menu. Here you can adjust the operation of the Poopy Nano 2, such as the cleaning time and other settings offered by the Poopy.

20. Cleaning

Settings for the cleaning function of the Poopy Nano 2. Here you set when the litter box should be cleaned automatically.

21. Time to clean

Set how long the Poopy Nano 2 waits before automatically cleaning after your cat has used the litter box. This prevents cleaning from starting while your cat is still nearby. Do you want the Poopy to start cleaning immediately? Set the time to 0 minutes. Prefer a delay? Choose 1 to 2 minutes. We recommend setting it to 5 minutes, so the cat litter has enough time to clump properly. This ensures the best performance of your Poopy.

22. Break between turns

Here you set the minimum time between two consecutive cleaning cycles. This prevents the litter box from cleaning itself immediately again, which is especially useful if you have multiple cats that use the litter box shortly after each other. Therefore, you adjust this setting depending on the number of cats.

23. 0 minutes/15 minutes

These are the time options you can set for "Time until cleaning" or "Pause between cycles". Choose the desired time to customize the cleaning cycle to your preference.

24. Other

Additional settings that the Poopy Nano 2 offers to further personalize the operation of the litter box.

25. Sleep mode

Sleep mode temporarily disables the Poopy Nano 2, preventing automatic cleaning during certain periods – such as at night. All functions are paused, and the litter box does not react to cat behavior. Ideal for a quiet environment, such as a bedroom or living room. After the set period, the Poopy automatically resumes normal operation.

26. Scheduled cleaning(s)

This function allows you to set fixed times for the Poopy Nano 2 to automatically clean. Convenient if you prefer a set schedule – for example, morning and evening – instead of cleaning after each use. This keeps the litter box fresh, even if your cat uses it less frequently.

27. Double cleansing

Activates a double cleaning cycle after each visit from your cat, ensuring an extra thorough clean. Ideal for when you want to keep the litter box extra clean.

28. Deep cleaning

Start a special cleaning cycle for an extra thorough clean. The Poopy Nano 2 first moves back and forth to better bury waste, after which the regular cleaning cycle follows. This keeps the litter box even cleaner. We recommend activating this in case of diarrhea.

29. Advanced settings

This menu offers additional settings to customize specific functions of the Poopy Nano 2. Here you can restart the Poopy and further adjust the operation of the litter box to your and your cat's preferences.

30. Selection of cat litter

Select the type of litter you are using so that the Poopy Nano 2 can respond optimally to it. This ensures that the box works correctly with the litter you choose.

31. Mixed (Tofu)

Setting for mixed cat litter, such as tofu granules. This type of litter has a different texture and weight than bentonite grit, and the Poopy adjusts its operation accordingly for optimal performance.

32. Mineral (Bentonite)

Setting for mineral litter, such as bentonite. The Poopy is optimized to efficiently process and clean this type of heavy, clumping litter.

33. Child lock

Activates the child lock on the Poopy Nano 2, locking buttons to prevent unwanted operation by children or curious cats.

34. Restart Poopy

This allows you to restart the Poopy Nano 2. This can be useful after adjusting certain settings or in case of minor malfunctions. All settings are retained, but the bin is reinitialized.

35. Converting Units

Choose your preferred unit of weight. For example, you can switch between kilograms and pounds for your cat's weight, depending on your preference.

36. Infrared sensor on/off

Here you can switch the infrared sensor on or off. For optimal Poopy performance, we recommend leaving it off. The sensor was originally intended as an extra safety measure, but thanks to the precise weight sensors, this is no longer necessary. If the infrared sensor is on, curious cat behavior may disrupt the operation of the litter box.

37. Developer Mode

When you enable this you will get the function to set advanced data from the weight sensors.

38. Notification settings

Here you can choose which notifications you want to receive about the status and usage of the Poopy Nano 2. Customize the notifications to your preference to stay informed of important updates.

39. Alarm switch

Turn all notifications on or off with one tap. This allows you to quickly pause or activate all notifications from the Poopy Nano 2.

40. Toilet notification

A notification that indicates that your cat has visited the Poopy Nano 2 and the litter box has been used. This keeps you informed about your cat's visiting behavior.

41. Cleaning Complete

A notification indicating that a manual cleaning cycle has been completed, so you know the tray is clean again.

42. Child Lock Enabled Notification

A message indicating that child lock is enabled, so the buttons are locked to prevent unwanted operation.

43. Sleep Mode Disabled

A notification indicating that sleep mode has ended. The Poopy Nano 2 will now automatically resume all its normal functions and perform cleaning cycles again when necessary.

44. Child Lock Disabled Message

A message indicating that the child lock has been disabled, so that the buttons can be operated again.

45. Sleep Mode Enabled

A notification indicating that sleep mode is activated. The Poopy Nano 2 will temporarily stop all automatic functions and will not perform a cleaning cycle during the set sleep period. Once sleep mode is deactivated, the Poopy will resume its normal operation.

46. Infrared Disabled Notification

A message indicating that the infrared sensor is disabled.

47. Automatic Cleaning Complete

A notification that indicates that an automatic cleaning cycle has completed, so you know the bin is clean again.

48. Device Error Message
